Prior to that, he was a Client IT Relationship Manager at Electronic Data Systems for 12 years, from 1987 to 1999. Additionally, he briefly served as the Manager of Sourcing & Negotiations at Catholic Health Initiatives in 2016. His early career included eight years in the US Navy as a Personnelman Third Class, where he served from 1983 to 1991.

Alan Poulin studied Business Administration and Management at St. Louis Community College from 1980 to 1982. He possesses advanced skills in mediation, project management, and employee mentoring.
