Mariana has a significant history in diabetes education, having worked in various roles across multiple organizations. She was a Diabetes Educator at Medtronic and Becton Dickinson from 2008 to 2009. She later joined the Diabetes Hands Foundation, where she served as a Community & Social Media Assistant and Community Manager from 2015 to 2017. Additionally, she worked at the Federación Mexicana de Diabetes, A.C. in several capacities, including Communications Manager and Website Coordinator.

Mariana has a diverse educational background with degrees in Psychology, Clinical Nutrition, and Human Resources. She studied at Universidad del Valle de México, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from 2012 to 2015. She also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Nutrition from Universidad Abierta y a Distancia de México from 2018 to 2022. Furthermore, she holds a Master's Degree in Human Resources from Universidad Intercontinental, completed between 2003 and 2005.

Mariana co-founded Diabetes and Co, an online platform aimed at providing diabetes education to Spanish-speaking audiences. She also created Dulcesitosparami, one of the first type 1 diabetes blogs in Mexico. Additionally, she co-authored the children's book 'Había una vez una Diabetes' (Once Upon a Time There was Diabetes), contributing to diabetes awareness and education for younger audiences.
