About Timothy C. Rodwell
Timothy Rodwell is a Professor and physician in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical and Sleep Medicine, Department of Medicine at UCSD, and a Senior Scientific Advisor at FIND, Switzerland. He is trained in medicine, infectious disease ecology, molecular epidemiology and global health. Dr. Rodwell’s research is primarily focused on infectious disease diagnostics with an emphasis on the development and implementation of rapid molecular diagnostics. He is currently leading several large multinational clinical studies to develop and field test novel diagnostics for clinical diagnosis of TB and drug resistant TB, and is MPI on 2 cutting edge NIH funded studies evaluating novel biomarkers for rapid diagnosis of TB. He is also a senior scientific advisor helping oversee the first multinational clinical study of sequencing for rapid diagnosis of drug resistant TB and a co-investigator on a DoD funded study developing and evaluating a novel commercial diagnostic for distinguishing latent TB from active TB disease.
