About Matthew Long

I am co-founder and CEO of [C]Worthy, which is a non-profit research organization focused on building the tools needed to ensure safe, effective ocean-based carbon dioxide removal (CDR). In particular, [C]Worthy is developing modeling and data assimilation infrastructure to provide robust monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of ocean-based CDR technologies. I have been a Scientist or researcher in the Climate & Global Dynamics Laboratory at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) since 2010. Prior to NCAR, I built and deployed instruments to measure ocean carbon variables. I worked as a Civil Engineer at CDM developing river and sewer-network models to support management and guide municipal infrastructure investments. I was also a US Peace Corps volunteer and taught high school Physics and Geography in Tanzania.
