About Damond Ng, MD, Mph

Damond Ng is a San Francisco native and proud UCLA Bruin. After studying biochemistry, building homes with Habitat for Humanity, and meeting his future wife in Los Angeles, he served the Tenderloin for two years at Glide’s federally qualified health center as an AmeriCorps member and worked for Street Outreach Services, a mobile clinic caring for homeless people and their companion animals. Returning to LA, Damond matriculated at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and trained via the PRIME-LA program focusing on leadership and advocacy in healthcare for the underserved; He concurrently earned an MPH in health policy & management at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. During his training, Damond served as medical coordinator of UCLA Mobile Clinic serving the homeless on Skid Row, coordinated interprofessional hotspotting efforts to treat high utilizers of care, and was inducted into the Gold Humanism Honor Society. For residency, Damond matched at UCLA Internal Medicine in the Primary Care program where he treated homeless veterans in his primary clinic and was a quality improvement scholar. Upon graduation, he was nominated for the Bruin Award and Graduating Resident Teaching Award. Damond has published work in Academic Medicine, Journal of General Internal Medicine, Federal Practitioner, and Annals of Family Medicine. Damond has been recognized with the UCLA Chancellor’s Service Award, AmeriCorps Local Leadership Award, Society of General Internal Medicine National Young Scholars Award, and American College of Physicians National Young Achiever Award. In his free time, he enjoys rooting for the Warriors/49ers/Giants, wandering through museums, building his whiskey collection, and serving his hometown.
