Adam Frey

Judge Advocate @ United States Air Force

About Adam Frey

I am a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and have been practicing for over 17 years in the United States Air Force's Judge Advocate General's Corps. My time in the JAG Corps has exposed me to a broad range of state and federal legal issues across the country. I was recently the branch chief for the Air Force Legal Operations Agency's Military Personnel Division, responsible for all cases in which the Air Force must defend its actions or policies against lawsuits by present and former military members in federal court. Our cases involve constitutional and civil rights challenges to military policy, habeas corpus challenges by military prisoners, and challenges to disability ratings and promotion decisions. Previously, I spent two years as the deputy supervisor of one the Air Force's largest stateside legal offices and was responsible for the direction of a staff of approximately 25 attorneys and paralegals. We dealt with a constant stream of legal issues for a large bomb wing, including criminal prosecutions, administrative separations, federal labor law, federal ethics, and legal assistance (including estate planning, landlord/tenant issues, and other personal issues) for a large body of present and retired military members. During this period, I deployed to Afghanistan for six months, where I served as the personal legal advisor to a one-star general and all Airmen assigned to his fighting wing. My time in the JAG Corps has exposed me to an endless range of legal issues which we were expected to resolve quickly and decisively. I have done criminal prosecutions, analyzed tort issues ranging from minor tire damage to significant aircraft crashes, represented the Air Force before the Merit Systems Protection Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and much more. I continue to serve in the Air Force JAG Corps reserve at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
