About Silvia Bunge
I'm a Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at UC Berkeley, where I direct the Building Blocks of Cognition Laboratory. My areas of expertise are in cognitive neuroscience, developmental psychology, and the science of learning. My lab studies the foundations of high-level cognition in humans: how we learn, reason, remember, and regulate our behavior. We also study how these processes mature over childhood and adolescence, and how they are shaped by experience – for better and for worse. To investigate these phenomena, we use behavioral, brain imaging, and eyetracking methods. My long-term goals are to leverage my findings to improve educational outcomes, through collaborations with educators and policymakers. I recently co-authored a textbook called Fundamentals of Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience (Bortfeld & Bunge, Cambridge University Press, 2024).
