I am a product of determination, resilience, and a testament to the boundless possibilities that come with change. Immigrating from South Africa a few years ago, I emerged from East Lynne, Pretoria, where societal norms and the vestiges of apartheid painted a limiting horizon. The family traditions spoke of early marriages for women and business continuation for men. Yet, the narrative changed with me; I am now the first in my lineage to embrace formal education, propelled by an indefatigable drive to leave an indelible mark on the world. From debating at renowned institutions like Vietnam and Yale to incubating startups in University of Michigan and Dubai, every step of my journey has been a rich tapestry of learning and innovation. I have not just been a student but also a mentor, guiding aspirants at Yale, Stanford, and nurturing children with disabilities through sports initiatives like Sports Heroes. Now, as a student at the University of California, Davis, I am honing my expertise in Computer Science and Statistics, particularly in the Machine Learning Track. Courses such as Discrete Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence have strengthened my technical foundation, priming me for the challenges and innovations of the tech world. My work experience further complements my academic journey. During my tenure at IndicatorLab in Palo Alto, I led pivotal projects that revolutionized user experience and financial data accessibility, delivering tangible results in user growth and retention. At ALEF Aeronautics in San Mateo, my role as a Software Engineering Intern empowered me to unearth correlations between flight stability and engine types, resulting in notable enhancements in flight performance. With Solvd, Inc., I deep-dived into the nuances of Java and SQL, optimizing data retrieval and database management. These experiences, coupled with my research work at UC Davis's Department of Computer Science, underpin my proficiency and passion in software engineering.
