About Jason Thatcher

Jason studies technology use in organizations. He publishes papers examining cybersecurity, individual decision-making, strategic alignment & workforce issues as they relate to the effective application of information technologies in organizations. His work has been funded by grants or gifts in kind from the National Science Foundation, IBM, Salesforce.com, and other sources. Jason’s work appears in outlets such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, Harvard Business Review and Journal of Applied Psychology. He has published in Financial Times 50 journals roughly once a year since earning his Ph.D. Jason has won awards for teaching, research, and service - but is most proud of his work with doctoral students in the United States, Hong Kong, Denmark, and Germany - he contends that there are not many professional accomplishments of greater value, than watching a young scholar mature and flourish. Jason has been objectively ranked the most prolific researcher in the Information Systems discipline three times, most recently in 2021. The ranking was calculated using a raw count of co-authored papers in journals such as MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Journal of Management Information Systems, the European Journal of IS, and three other high-quality Information Systems journals.
