About Alain Hanover
I have over 30 years of business experience as a venture capitalist, angel investor, CEO, serial entrepreneur, CFO, Board Member, Lecturer, and mentor/advisor. FINRA Series 7 & 63 certified. I am passionate about building and nurturing businesses, specializing in strategy, financing, management and M&A in technology, software, medical, and green tech companies. My background includes founding and scaling six companies, among them CommonAngels, a leading New England investment group; Viewlogic, a leader in electronic design automation; and several companies based on MIT technology and discoveries. I had the honor of being named Entrepreneur of the Year by Inc. magazine in 1993 while at Viewlogic. I have also led the investment process as a VC, angel, and CEO. From high-level portfolio strategy to team building, sourcing, due diligence, negotiations, M&A, and Board oversight, I've guided deals from identification to exit. Finally, as a mentor and advisor to hundreds of startups and growing companies (CommonAngels, Navigator, CIMIT, MIT Venture Mentoring Service, Mass Challenge, Bentley entrepreneur advisor, Betaspring, and more), I've gained unique expertise in growing businesses in diverse areas. Educationally have a broad knowledge of Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Math and Cryptography. Also, expanded my Life sciences expertise with extension courses in Bioinformatics, and Biology at MIT and Harvard.
