About Elizabeth Chambers

Growing businesses and building great teams are what I love to do. My board director, advisory and executive career spans financial and professional services, and has focused on strategy, marketing and business development, product innovation, organizational performance and communications in a global, multi-business and digital context. My experience includes leading change in regulated banks and consumer and B2B payments companies in the US, UK and globally. Driving digital and tech transformation for customer and business impact is a long-standing career theme, going all the way back to my days as a McKinsey partner. Today I am an Operating Partner with Searchlight Capital Partners, advising the firm on investments in the financial services space, and working with portfolio companies to deliver their strategies and growth ambitions. As a consultant I can be found advising senior leaders on strategy and organizational effectiveness. I serve on the Boards of Wise plc, the listed global fintech payments leader, TSB Bank plc, one of the UK’s leading retail banks, Vanquis Banking Group (formerly Provident Financial), a leading UK consumer finance provider, and the non-profit University of Colorado medical campus. I’m also an investor director for the open-banking payments startup Currensea and Sightline Payments, and have served on the advisory boards of Netspend, Coadjute, Datami, ReachMobile, ReachNext, Digi.me and Bink. Prior boards include Evelyn Partners, a top UK wealth manager and professional services firm, SaaS provider ThinkTank (Chair), Hastings Group plc, a FTSE 250 insuror, Western Union International Bank, Dollar Financial Group, hibu plc, Home and Savings Bank, and various Barclays JVs. My blue-chip CMO, strategy and business development experience includes Barclaycard and Barclays' retail and commercial banking businesses globally; the consumer, commercial and payments businesses of Bank of America; and Freshfields, the global law firm. While at Barclays, I also led Barclaycard’s UK co-branded credit card business. In my last full-time executive role I was EVP and Chief Strategy, Product and Marketing Officer with Western Union. My professional foundations were built at Morgan Stanley as a financial analyst, and later as an Associate and Partner in the Financial Institutions and Organization practices at McKinsey, where I co-led the ground-breaking “War for Talent” study, which fostered greater focus in this area. Early executive roles were global in scope and included Exco-level posts with Reader’s Digest and Bingham McCutchen.
