About Sarah Dresh

I am a third-year student at the University of Maryland majoring in Government and Politics with a minor in History. I'm passionate about civic engagement and public policy and hope to make a career working as a lawyer for an executive agency in the intelligence community. As an alumni of the Federal and Global Fellows Program, I studied homeland and national security policy from industry experts. Not only did I develop a strong interest in this field, but I was able to hone my policy analysis and research skills through completing various projects about terrorism and national security. I am also an associate of the CIVICUS Living and Learning Program, an invitational two-year program dedicated to community service learning and civic engagement. Thanks to my time in the program, I understand the value of community engagement and civic awareness. I have volunteered with numerous organizations each semester and participated in meaningful research concerning topics like gender equality, socioeconomic equality, immigration, and environmental activism. This admiration for policy and civic engagement has carried me through my time at the University of Maryland. Through my rigorous coursework, I’ve been able to study topics I had never previously been exposed to. I am encouraged to learn as much as I can before I graduate, because this experience has helped me become more socially and globally aware and an engaged member of my community. -- Career interests: Government/Politics, National/Homeland Security, Law/Legal, Public Policy
