Work at World Economic Forum
Erica Viegas has been serving as the Partnership and Alumni Manager and Global Leadership Fellow at the World Economic Forum since 2016. In this role, she oversees the engagement and support of alumni and partners, facilitating connections among young leaders globally. She has played a significant role in the Forum of Young Global Leaders program, raising $5 million in pledges for an international endowment fund that supports impact initiatives. Additionally, she manages the creation and execution of Executive Education Leadership courses at prestigious institutions such as Harvard, Oxford, and Stanford.
Education and Expertise
Erica Viegas holds a Bilingual Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) from the University of Alberta, where she studied Marketing from 2002 to 2006. She also participated in a France Study Exchange program at Université catholique de Lille, earning a Bachelor of Commerce in 2005. Furthering her education, she obtained a Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communication from New York University from 2014 to 2016. Additionally, she completed a Master of International Leadership at the Global Leadership Institute, which included coursework at Harvard Business School and other leading institutions from 2017 to 2020.
Background
Erica Viegas began her career as a Communications Officer at The Good Samaritan Society from 2004 to 2007. She then worked as a Senior Writer/Editor at the Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta, from 2011 to 2012, and as a Senior Communication Strategist in the Office of Advancement at the University of Alberta from 2012 to 2014. She gained experience in marketing as a Graduate Intern at the Clinton Foundation, working with the Clinton Global Initiative in 2015. Prior to her current position, she was a Global Shaper at the World Economic Forum from 2013 to 2015.
Achievements
Erica Viegas has been recognized for her contributions to leadership and community engagement. She was named one of Avenue Magazine's 'Top 40 Under 40' and featured in 'Sizzling 20 Under 30.' She has also served as the Community Manager for all Canadian Young Global Leader members and was selected as one of 56 young leaders to contribute to the agenda of the Annual Meeting of New Champions in China. In addition to her professional achievements, she is an independent singer-songwriter who has released two albums and toured across Canada, using her music to raise funds for international development charities.
