He served as a diplomat at the Utrikesdepartementet - Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Sweden, holding various positions from 1998 to 2008, including roles in Estonia, Afghanistan, Kosovo, and as Embassy Counsellor in Moscow. Additionally, he was Chief of Staff at the Mission of Sweden to the United Nations in Geneva from 2004 to 2006.
