About Lin Shi
I am a relentless, practical idealist. In all I do, my focus is on building a more compassionate world. As a soft-spoken, soft-hearted actuary, global consultant, and non-profit leader, I've worked across the public, private, and social sectors to create more financial wellbeing and inclusion for everyone. At Mercer, I serve as a principal consultant and actuary alongside a team of talented global consultants, helping our clients with a broad range of international employee needs, with 10+ years of experience ranging from financial wellbeing strategy and implementation, global benefits, retirement governance, and inclusive benefits design. I'm currently seconded to the World Economic Forum as a fellow on the Longevity Economy initiative, collaborating with industry experts across public, private, and social sectors to build a financially resilient future. Outside of the office, I am building a nonprofit initiative called the Money Health Collective to support financial wellbeing for all. Research in financial wellness indicates that financial literacy is only one part of the puzzle -- we need to address the emotions behind money in order to help people heal and make the financial decisions that best serve them. MHC is volunteer-led, community-centered, and accessible to everyone. I've been so grateful to be part of the Global Shapers Community, an initiative of the World Economic Forum, serving as the former Curator of the LA Hub and now as the Community Champion of our region. This community of young leaders inspires me constantly with their breadth and passion for creating a better, more inclusive world for all -- our projects range from climate action, to increasing civic participation, to building mental health initiatives, all centering on our support for our local communities. I also have been honored as a Fulbright-Schuman grantee and later selected as an ambassador for Fulbright, as well as serving on the boards of two incredible organizations, Pathways LA and Dream a World Education, both focusing on supporting children's education through trauma-informed care and art-based social-emotional learning, breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty by investing in children as well as parents. Inspired by my coaches at the Mira Fellowship, who asked what my "bold statement" would be for the future: I imagine a world where poverty and scarcity no longer exist, and I will do my best to build towards that world.
