Before joining the World Food Programme, Kialbek Temishev worked at UNHCR as a Community Services Associate in the Protection Unit from 2010 to 2017. He also held positions at the Eurasia Foundation of Central Asia Kazakhstan as a Grants Program Associate from 2006 to 2007 and at Pragma as an Association Development Program Officer from 2002 to 2006. These roles provided him with extensive experience in program management, grants oversight, and community services.

At the World Food Programme, Kialbek Temishev has managed food modality programs involving 19,000 metric tons and Cash-Based Transfer programs valued at 4 million USD. He has provided oversight for emergency preparedness and response, developing contingency plans in collaboration with UN agencies and national ministries. His leadership in the 'Emergency support and early recovery' initiative, which had a budget of 4 million USD, highlights his capability in managing significant projects aimed at mitigating crises.
