About Katherine Kimpel

Katherine M. Kimpel is an attorney who has spent her career working on civil rights issues, representing women and people of color to combat sexual harassment and discrimination in the workplace and working with employers to craft more equitable, inclusive and productive teams. Through her business Ramona Strategies, Ms. Kimpel and her partner Elizabeth Brown Riordan offer a range of services which help employers build stronger, safer, and ultimately more effective workplaces. These services include sexual harassment trainings; programming on diversity and inclusion efforts; policy and procedure development and review; performance management and leadership coaching; and culture assessments and interventions. Through her firm KK Advising, Ms. Kimpel routinely represents women at the highest levels in their fields, representing Senior HR executives, COO's, General Counsel and attorneys, and has been successful in negotiating exit packages and transitional plans that allow careers to proceed smoothly. In response to the #metoo movement, Ms. Kimpel has worked closely with organizations in crisis or in an aftermath posture to design and implement creative solutions that address the needs of the entire organization -- from Boards to entry-level staff. Ms. Kimpel rose to national prominence for her work helping to shatter the glass ceilings when she served as Lead Counsel representing approximately 6000 female employees in their gender and pregnancy discrimination claims in Velez v. Novartis. In addition, Ms. Kimpel teaches a course on Antidiscrimination Law at Yale Law School. She previously served as Named and Managing Partner at Sanford Heisler Kimpel, LLP -- a nationwide public interest law firm and as Special Counsel to the Senate Judiciary Committee.
