About April Underwood
I cofounded Adverb Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm, in 2023. We back extraordinary founders tackling massive opportunities, and are currently backing companies from pre-seed to Series A from our $75M Fund I. For 20 years I was an operator at high-growth companies including Google (2007-2009), Twitter (2010-2015), and Slack -- where I led product from 2015-2019 and was ultimately Chief Product Officer. I started my career as an engineer in 2001, transitioned into product in 2004, and since then have worked in product, platform, or partnerships roles at these amazing companies during hypergrowth. In 2015, I co-founded the #ANGELS investment collective with 5 colleagues from Twitter: Chloe Sladden, Katie Stanton, Jessica Verrilli, Jana Messerschmidt, Vijaya Gadde. I've personally backed over 50 companies as an angel investor, and our group has cumulatively backed over 150 companies. In addition to my work at Adverb, I am a public company board director and advise CEOs, CPOs, and executive teams on product and platform strategy as well as company scaling especially through rapid growth. I'm also a frequent speaker on technology and have been covered in or on stage by Fast Company, Fortune, Forbes, WSJ, and many more. I grew up in Texas and made my way to San Francisco in 2005. I hold a BBA from The University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from University of California, Berkeley (Haas).
