In my mid-twenties, I had the privilege of climbing many of the tallest mountains in the western hemisphere. As it turns out, climbing has proven to be a useful metaphor throughout my career. The SaaS Marketplace is much like a mountain that has yet to be summited. Our knowledge only spans as far as the distance we’ve climbed and with every new route forged, we find another opportunity, challenge and/or lesson. I began my career when SaaS was just a small mole hill in a booming technology category. The technology driven spirit of the Bay Area enticed me, but what was even more compelling than the "trend" of working in technology, was the true spirit of creation, ingenuity and speed of change. Over the past 25+ years, the small mole hill of SaaS has become a gigantic mountain, with well over 10,000 vendors and continues to grow rapidly. As an alpinist of this Eco-system, I have realized that climbing at the forefront alone is a lonely venture. However, guiding others to new heights is extraordinarily gratifying. My greatest fulfillment doesn’t come from shattering individual sales goals, but from having customers and team members see me as a consultative advisor that helps them champion their ideas and optimize their businesses. The dynamic growth of SaaS is a continual challenge, but I take pride in being an agent of change who quickly grasps new concepts, technologies and processes to ensure my team and customers reach the summit.
