Armata Pharmaceuticals

Armata Pharmaceuticals develops advanced phage therapeutics to combat antibiotic resistance, with a focus on innovative products like AP-SA02 and AP-PA02, supported by robust clinical studies and significant funding.

Company Overview

Armata Pharmaceuticals specializes in developing high-impact, best-in-class phage therapeutics aimed at combating antibiotic resistance. With a focus on natural and synthetic phages, the company is dedicated to addressing the global challenge of antibiotic-resistant infections.

Key Products

Armata Pharmaceuticals has several phage therapeutics in development. AP-SA02 is a novel biologic product candidate that targets Staphylococcus aureus, including drug-resistant isolates and biofilms. AP-PA02 is a therapeutic phage cocktail designed to combat Pseudomonas aeruginosa in serious respiratory infections and is in preclinical development. Additionally, AP-PA03 is under development for pneumonia treatment.

Clinical Trials

Armata is currently running multiple clinical trials. The 'diSArm' study, focused on AP-SA02, is a Phase 1b/2a trial partially funded by a $15 million award from the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC). The 'SWARM-P.a.' study for AP-PA02, also a Phase 1b/2a clinical trial, is supported by a $5 million Therapeutics Development Award from the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Technology Platform

Armata's proprietary phage engineering platform enhances the clinical and commercial potential of their phage therapy products. The platform includes advancements in phage discovery and the targeting of major infectious disease pathogens, notably the ESKAPE pathogens. This research is conducted by a team of microbiologists who actively seek natural phages to combat these pathogens.

Facilities

Armata Pharmaceuticals operates out of a 35,000 square foot headquarters in Marina del Rey, California. The facility is designed specifically for phage product development and includes current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) suites, and a Quality Unit for the production, purification, testing, and release of clinical trial materials.
