The BioFire® FilmArray® System offers panels for syndromic infectious disease diagnostics. It includes the Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Meningitis/Encephalitis, Pneumonia, and Joint Infection panels. This system streamlines the diagnostic process by consolidating multiple tests into a single panel, aiding in the detection of various pathogens from different sample types.
Details of BioFire® FilmArray® Panels
The BioFire® FilmArray® Respiratory 2.1 (RP2.1) Panel can detect 22 pathogens, including SARS-CoV-2, in about 45 minutes. The Gastrointestinal (GI) Panel tests for 22 pathogens from stool samples, while the Meningitis/Encephalitis (ME) Panel identifies 14 agents from cerebrospinal fluid. The Pneumonia (PN) Panel tests for 33 pathogens from sputum and bronchoalveolar lavage samples and provides quantitative results for 15 bacteria. The Blood Culture Identification 2 (BCID2) Panel covers 43 targets from positive blood cultures, and the Joint Infection (JI) Panel detects 39 pathogens and resistance genes from synovial fluid.
Point-of-Care Testing with BioFire® SPOTFIRE® System
BioFire® SPOTFIRE® System is designed for point-of-care testing, offering rapid results. The SPOTFIRE Respiratory Panels can produce results in about 15 minutes. The SPOTFIRE Respiratory (R) Panel Mini detects 5 respiratory pathogens, and the SPOTFIRE Respiratory (R) Panel tests for 15. Additionally, the SPOTFIRE Respiratory/Sore Throat (R/ST) Panel tests for both respiratory and sore throat pathogens.
Software and Connectivity Solutions
BioFire Syndromic Trends is a software feature that provides pathogen circulation trends from de-identified data. The BioFire® FilmArray® System can interface with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) and Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) providers, automating reporting workflows. BIOFIRE® Link Software offers unidirectional and bidirectional configurations for connectivity. This ensures data interoperability and streamlined operations in clinical and point-of-care settings.
