Blue Diamond Growers, a cooperative of almond growers, was founded in 1910. It was the first grower-owned cooperative created to market almonds and has pioneered numerous advancements in the almond industry, including the adoption of electronic sorting machines and the development of markets for California almonds in over 80 countries, such as Japan and China.
Facilities and Technology
Blue Diamond Growers operates three production plants in Sacramento, Salida, and Turlock, encompassing over 2.5 million square feet of space. The Sacramento facility includes over one million square feet dedicated to processing, storage, and distribution, more than any other in the industry. The Turlock Plant represents the pinnacle of almond processing technology. The Salida Plant is the world's largest almond receiving station, handling over five million pounds per day. Additionally, the Almond Innovation Center® in Sacramento is a 6,500 square-foot facility dedicated to almond R&D.
