COTA Services
The Central Ohio Transit Authority (COTA) offers a diverse range of services to meet the needs of its 1.2 million residents. This includes the COTA Bus, Zoo Bus, CBUS (Downtown Circulator), COTA AirConnect, COTA C-pass, COTA//Plus (On Demand), CMAX (Rapid Transit Bus), and COTA Mainstream/Paratransit. The CBUS service is a free downtown circulator with nearly 30 stops, enhancing accessibility throughout the area. Additionally, COTA’s AirConnect service provides direct transit between Downtown Columbus and John Glenn International Airport. The COTA//Plus service offers on-demand rides in designated zones like Grove City, Westerville, and the South Side, catering to varied community transit needs.
COTA Strategic Plans and Initiatives
COTA has a strategic plan covering the period from 2019 to 2024, focusing on improving transit services throughout the central Ohio region. The LinkUS initiative aims to deliver a world-class mobility and transportation system, providing residents increased access to opportunities. The Go! Mobility Lab collaborates with thought leaders, entrepreneurs, and corporate innovators to enhance transit. COTA's Transit System Redesign (TSR), launched in 2017, simplifies routes and increases frequency to optimize the bus network. Additionally, the Short Range Transit Plan (SRTP) spans from 2023 to 2027, ensuring continued development and adaptation of transit services.

COTA Technology and Innovations
COTA has embraced technology and innovation to improve passenger experience and transit efficiency. The Connector app and Smartcard system streamline the boarding process, enabling customers to board buses without cash. The Smartcard system also offers benefits like fare capping and simplified transfers. COTA's fleet, comprising 429 vehicles, includes 24 electric buses and 251 compressed natural gas buses, reflecting a commitment to environmentally friendly transit solutions. Furthermore, advanced air filtration systems in the fleet aim to reduce the spread of germs and diseases, enhancing passenger safety and comfort.
COTA Community Programs
COTA supports the community through various programs designed to increase access to transportation and provide additional benefits. The C-pass program offers eligible downtown workers and residents no-cost, unlimited rides on any COTA fixed-route service. The Income Assistance Program provides a 50% discount for customers participating in countywide programs like SNAP and Medicaid. Additionally, COTA’s educational pass program offers supplemental transportation services for Columbus City Schools students in grades 9-12. The Mainstream On-Demand service ensures accessible, same-day, non-stop, door-to-door transit for private needs.
