Cepton
Cepton is a lidar technology company headquartered in San Jose, CA, known for its Ultra lidar and Komodo ASIC, which enhance ADAS and automated driving capabilities.
Cepton Ultra Lidar
Cepton's Ultra lidar is recognized as the world's slimmest adaptive, long-range lidar. It is engineered for the next generation of consumer vehicle Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) and automated driving capabilities. Integral to its performance is the MagnoSteer™ technology and a proprietary ASIC chipset, allowing for a 300-meter range at 10% reflectivity and 0.05° resolution while consuming only 12 watts of power. The Ultra lidar offers a software-definable field of view of 120° (horizontal) by 25° (vertical) and has the capacity to generate up to 3.8 million points per second.
Sora Series Lidar Sensors
Cepton's Sora series lidar sensors are set to be deployed on several major tollways in the Tri-State area and Northern California under a multi-million dollar contract. These sensors are noted for their industry-leading scanning speed and high data rate, which enable detailed and accurate 3D profiling of vehicles even at highway speeds. This deployment underscores the reliability and efficiency of Cepton's Sora series in operational environments requiring high precision.
Komodo ASIC
The Komodo ASIC is Cepton's proprietary lidar point cloud processor. Developed and designed in California, this ASIC is slated for integration into several models of Cepton lidars starting Q2 2023. The Komodo ASIC significantly enhances lidar performance while reducing costs by over ten times compared to previous configurations using multiple merchant silicon devices. It consumes less than a watt of power and is ISO26262 ASIL-B certified for automotive-grade reliability. Additionally, the Komodo ASIC supports lidar-camera data fusion and communication with control units, broadening its utility.
Global Presence and Headquarters
Cepton maintains a global presence with offices in Germany, Canada, Japan, India, and China, enabling the company to meet the demands of its fast-growing international customer base. The company's headquarters is located in San Jose, California, and they also operate a center of excellence facility in Troy, Michigan. This geographical diversity helps Cepton maintain close connections with key markets and leverage regional strengths.
