DevColor is a San Francisco-based non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of Black technologists. It aims to increase access to executive leadership roles for Black software engineers, technologists, and executives. The organization operates primarily in the United States and Canada, building a substantial community of over 600 professional members and a global reach of over 20,000.
DevColor Services and Programs
DevColor offers various services and programs to support Black software engineers. This includes their flagship peer mentorship program, A* (A Star), which has seen nearly 1,000 leaders participate for one or more years. Additionally, DevColor runs a global career accelerator and provides various resources to help Black software engineers excel and lead organizations. The community offers mentorship, goal setting, and events to support members throughout their careers, from college to industry.
Partnerships and Collaborations
DevColor partners with a range of high-profile organizations to advance its mission. These include Atlassian, Facebook, Google, Mailchimp, Netflix, Pinterest, Square, and Uber. Through these partnerships, DevColor aims to increase accountability for racial equity and representation in the tech industry, connecting Black technologists with employers to maximize their impact.
Leadership and Governance
Rhonda Allen is the CEO of DevColor, bringing over 12 years of experience in strategy, technology, education, cross-sector partnerships, and operations. DevColor also has a board of directors composed of industry leaders and executives. Under their guidance, the organization aims to empower Black software engineers to grow into industry leaders and pioneers.

DevColor has been featured in notable media outlets such as USA Today, Wired, TechCrunch, and Axios, highlighting its efforts in supporting Black software engineers. The organization also hosts events, publishes a blog featuring articles on leadership and diversity in tech, and provides a platform for sharing member stories. These initiatives help to foster a strong sense of community and support for Black technologists.
