Founded in 1998, Dress for Success Houston has been dedicated to empowering women by providing business attire, confidence boosts, and career advancement services. The organization operates as an independent 501(c)(3) corporation registered in the state of Texas. As part of a worldwide network of 150 affiliates spanning 30 countries, Dress for Success Houston has supported over 47,000 women since its inception.
Services
Dress for Success Houston offers a range of services designed to help women succeed in their careers. These services include providing professional attire donations available from Wednesdays to Fridays, weekly workshops for job-searching women that focus on enhancing interview skills and building resumes, and operating the Chevron Career Center. The organization also supports women veterans through their Women Veterans Program, providing a network of support, transitional workshops, and specialized services without government or United Way funding.
Women Veterans Program
Since 2014, Dress for Success Houston has operated a Women Veterans Program which has served over 1,700 women veterans. This program provides a network of support to assist women transitioning from military to civilian life. The program also offers over 20 service workshops in partnership with local veteran service organizations. Marking its 10th anniversary in October 2024, this program operates independently without receiving government or United Way funding.
Events
Dress for Success Houston hosts several events to engage and support the community. The Professional Women's Group supports ongoing professional and personal development for its 390 members. The organization also hosts the annual PowHER Hour event, featuring local culinary dishes and a wine presentation. Dress for Success Houston has participated in the charity race Run for a Reason for 12 consecutive years, offering participants the option to run a 5K, half, or full marathon.
