Exotec
Exotec's Skypod system is an advanced automated storage and retrieval solution that uses robots to optimize warehouse operations, capable of climbing up to 12 meters and navigating efficiently with LIDAR technology.
Automated Storage and Retrieval System: Skypod
Exotec's Skypod system is an advanced automated storage and retrieval system designed to optimize warehouse efficiency. The Skypod system employs robots to bring items directly to warehouse workers, minimizing the need for workers to traverse warehouse floors. The robots are capable of climbing up to 12 meters (39 feet), effectively utilizing vertical space and increasing storage capacity. Additionally, the Skypod system operates in both ambient and chilled environments, making it suitable for a variety of warehouse settings.
Capabilities of Skypod Robots
The Skypod robots developed by Exotec are equipped with LIDAR technology for precise navigation and mapping. These robots can travel up to 4 meters per second (13 feet per second) and can access any item in the system within two minutes. Notably, the robots only require about 5 minutes of charging per hour, contributing to continuous operations and optimal efficiency. The system's scalability means additional robots can be integrated to meet changing business demands.
Skypath Conveyor System
Exotec's Skypath conveyor system is designed for efficient material handling within warehouses. The Skypath system features straight, curved, and inclined sections to adapt to various warehouse layouts. Capable of handling up to 2,700 bins per hour, the conveyors can travel at speeds up to 72 meters per minute (236 feet per minute). Additionally, Skypath conveyors are pre-wired and do not require on-site controller programming, allowing for quick installation within less than 200 hours for 500 meters (1,640 feet) of conveyors.
Ergonomic Workstations
Exotec's Skypod system includes ergonomic workstations designed to reduce strain and fatigue for operators. These workstations allow operators to pick items efficiently from robots at an ergonomic height. Features include Pick-to-Light systems, static scanners, or handset scanners to enhance accuracy. The stations can handle up to 400 lines per hour and are equipped to manage both piece and case picking, thereby supporting a wide range of order profiles. Each station can prepare up to four orders concurrently, increasing productivity.
Warehouse Software Suite: Deepsky
The Skypod system integrates with Exotec's warehouse software suite called Deepsky. Deepsky facilitates the connection between the Skypod system and warehouse management systems (WMS), enabling seamless operations and data flow. This software suite is a crucial component in managing warehouse automation, ensuring that the retrieval and storage processes are optimized. By leveraging Deepsky, warehouses can enhance their efficiency and accuracy in order fulfillment, inventory management, and overall operations.
