These include primary care, pediatric care, geriatric care, walk-in care, school-based health centers, behavioral health, women's health, gender-affirming care, HIV care management, healthcare for the homeless, office-based addiction treatment, and community-based services. The organization also provides a sliding fee schedule based on family size and income, ensuring accessibility for all.
Pharmacy Services
Greater Lawrence Family Health Center operates six pharmacies across three cities and provides pharmacy services to everyone, not just patients. They offer free delivery of pharmacy services to the Greater Lawrence area. The health center also participates in the 340B program to extend resources to vulnerable patient populations and includes a Postgraduate Year One (PGY-1) pharmacy residency program in affiliation with MCPHS University-Boston.
Accreditations and Recognition
The health center has been recognized as a National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) level-3 Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH). Additionally, it was the first organization in the nation to have an accredited Community Health Center sponsored Family Medicine Residency. These recognitions highlight the center's commitment to providing high-quality and patient-focused care.
History
Greater Lawrence Family Health Center has been serving the Merrimack Valley region for nearly 45 years. It has evolved into a robust network that provides a broad spectrum of healthcare services. The center also operates school-based health centers and healthcare for the homeless programs, ensuring they reached various segments of the community. The dedication of its physician residency training space at 34 Haverhill St., Lawrence, underscores its long-term commitment to medical education and community health.
Community Engagement and Employee Programs
The health center actively participates in grassroots advocacy at the local, state, and federal levels. It employs over 600 staff members, with 55% being bilingual/bicultural Latinos and 67% residing in the Merrimack Valley.
