HomeFront provides shelter, food, and comprehensive support services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness, with a focus on children. The organization also offers job training, educational programs, and therapeutic arts to help clients achieve stability and self-sufficiency.

HomeFront Services

HomeFront provides a wide range of services to assist individuals and families in need. On any given night, they shelter over 450 individuals, many of whom are children. Their Family Preservation Center accommodates 38 families, offering on-site childcare, job training, and other vital services. HomeFront’s FreshStart program provides short-term housing and comprehensive services to help families regain financial self-sufficiency. They operate three food/grocery pantries in Lawrenceville and Trenton, NJ, to meet the basic needs of the community.

HomeFront Child and Family Programs

HomeFront places a strong emphasis on supporting children and families through several key programs. The Atkinson Child Development Center offers high-quality developmental care for children ages 0-5 and provided trauma-informed daycare to 94 children last year. Additionally, HomeFront’s Camp Mercer is an eight-week day camp for children ages 5-15, focusing on academic enrichment and recreational activities. These programs aim to foster a supportive environment for growth and development.

HomeFront Food and Nutrition Initiatives

HomeFront actively combats hunger through multiple food and nutrition initiatives. They distributed free bags of groceries to over 18,500 individuals last year and provide weekly food bags and hot meals twice a week through the Double Helpings program for families experiencing homelessness. Additionally, they operate three food/grocery pantries in Lawrenceville and Trenton, NJ, ensuring food security for community members in need.

HomeFront Employment and Education Programs

HomeFront focuses on empowering clients through education and employment programs. In the last year, they successfully assisted 68 long-term unemployed clients in securing jobs or obtaining their high school diplomas. The Hire Expectations program offers job training and certifications in areas such as Microsoft Office, customer service, and hospitality, providing clients with valuable skills to enter the workforce.

HomeFront Community Engagement and Arts Programs

HomeFront engages the community through various arts and cultural programs. The ArtSpace program offers therapeutic arts and visual therapy to clients, promoting healing and well-being. HomeFront also hosts ArtJam, an annual pop-up art gallery event in Princeton, NJ, featuring works from national and local artists. Additionally, their Treasure Trove thrift store in Hopewell, NJ, specializes in vintage and collectible items, supporting the organization’s mission through community involvement and fundraising.
