Jericho Project
Jericho Project is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing homelessness, serving over 3,000 individuals annually, including over 700 veterans, through supportive housing, employment, and various services.
Services
Jericho Project provides a range of services to support individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Their services include housing through various programs, such as the Family Scatter-Site Permanent Supportive Housing Program, and three scatter-site programs for single adults and families. They also offer the Workforce Opportunities Program, Young Adult Services focusing on LGBTQ young adults, and the Veterans Initiative, which includes housing, employment, and supportive services for veterans. Additionally, they provide aftercare through the Homebase program to prevent evictions.
Supportive Housing
Jericho Project operates over 600 units of supportive housing, including 8 residences in Bronx and Harlem. They also manage three scatter-site programs with over 115 units for single adults and families. These units include the Family Scatter-Site Permanent Supportive Housing Program with 60 units, and the Veterans Initiative that has successfully housed and supported over 700 veterans. Each year, Jericho Project manages housing for over 3,000 individuals, preventing them from returning to homelessness.
Workforce Opportunities Program
The Workforce Opportunities Program at Jericho Project plays a critical role in helping individuals achieve financial independence. In 2020, the program assisted over 600 individuals. Through this program, clients have achieved an average hourly wage of $19.21 for full-time jobs and $17.51 for part-time jobs. This initiative is essential in providing clients with the necessary skills and opportunities to re-enter the workforce effectively.
Veterans Initiative
Jericho Project's Veterans Initiative is dedicated to providing comprehensive support for veterans. This initiative offers housing, employment, and supportive services, helping over 700 veterans secure homes and necessary support. The Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) grant aims to prevent imminent homelessness or rapidly re-house veterans. This program is pivotal in ensuring that veterans receive the respect and assistance they need to transition to independent living.
Community Engagement and Volunteering
Jericho Project encourages community involvement through various volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups. Their Associate Board of Directors, consisting of young professionals, supports the mission by engaging in volunteerism, fundraising, and networking. Internship opportunities are typically paid and available year-round, providing hands-on experience in the nonprofit sector. Furthermore, the Planned Giving program allows individuals to create legacy gifts that benefit the organization and support their mission long-term.
