Kansas Healthcare Collaborative, founded in 2008, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving health care quality, safety, and value across Kansas through patient-centered initiatives and technical assistance.
History
Founded in 2008 by the Kansas Hospital Association and the Kansas Medical Society, the Kansas Healthcare Collaborative (KHC) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. The collaborative was established to transform health care in Kansas by focusing on patient-centered initiatives that aim to improve quality, safety, and value in health care delivery across the state.
Services
The Kansas Healthcare Collaborative offers no-cost technical assistance to physicians and hospitals throughout Kansas. By providing support for improving patient outcomes, the collaborative helps enhance patient quality and safety. KHC focuses on areas such as health equity, patient safety, and chronic disease management, along with offering educational resources and interventions for health care professionals.
Current Initiatives
KHC currently engages in several initiatives aimed at improving health care quality and outcomes. These include the Health Quality Innovation Network, Cancer Screening & Prevention, Zero Suicide Program, Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension Prevention, Community Health Worker Teams, and the COPIC Care Transitions Initiative. These initiatives focus on evidence-based practices and patient-oriented analytics to drive improvements in health care.
Educational Events
The Kansas Healthcare Collaborative hosts various educational events to disseminate knowledge and best practices among health care professionals. These events include KHC Office Hours and the Summit on Quality, both of which provide opportunities for learning and collaboration. These sessions cover a range of topics including patient safety, quality improvement, and health equity.
Partnerships
KHC partners with over 120 Kansas hospitals and more than 1,000 providers at 200+ clinics across the state. These partnerships aim to leverage shared knowledge and resources to achieve the collaborative's mission of improving health care quality and outcomes in Kansas. The organization also participates in national initiatives like the Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) and the Practice Transformation Network (PTN).
Funding and Support
The collaborative receives funding from entities such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and various private funders. This funding supports diverse initiatives, including the deployment of Community Health Worker Teams to address chronic diseases and social determinants of health.
