Lawyers for Good Government (L4GG) is a community comprising 125,000 lawyers, law students, and activists dedicated to ensuring equal rights, opportunities, and justice under the law. The organization coordinates large-scale pro bono programs and advocacy efforts to address various social issues. L4GG operates several targeted programs, including State Legislative Advocacy Academy, Reproductive Rights and Health Equity, TPS Pro Bono Project, Project Corazon, Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program, and Lawyers for Racial Justice.

Pro Bono and Advocacy Programs

L4GG runs a range of pro bono programs and advocacy initiatives aimed at addressing critical social issues. The State Legislative Advocacy Academy has equipped 475 attorneys with legislative advocacy training. The Reproductive Rights and Health Equity program provides daily updates on reproductive health laws, mobilizing over 500 volunteers for legal research. Project Corazon offers legal assistance to asylum seekers, having helped over 1300 individuals secure parole and wind down the MPP policy in Matamoros. The Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program supports local governments and NGOs in addressing climate issues, having trained 42 municipalities across 24 states in renewable energy tools.

Project Corazon

Project Corazon is an L4GG initiative providing legal assistance to asylum seekers crossing into the U.S. via the Rio Grande Valley. The project offers support, including aid to those with medical conditions, disabilities, LGBTQ+ individuals, and third-language speakers. Over 1300 asylum seekers have secured life-saving parole through this initiative. Project Corazon also oversaw the wind-down of the MPP policy in Matamoros, facilitating the admission of hundreds of clients into the United States.

Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program

L4GG's Climate Change and Environmental Justice Program addresses the causes and effects of climate change. This initiative provides legal resources and services to local governments, NGOs, and frontline communities. The program has offered training on renewable energy tools to 42 municipalities from 24 states and provided guidance on decarbonization and climate resiliency funding to representatives from 49 states, D.C., Puerto Rico, and Guam. The program plays a critical role in aiding city leaders and organizations in implementing tools to increase renewable energy and reduce carbon emissions.

Lawyers for Racial Justice

The Lawyers for Racial Justice initiative mobilizes pro bono legal resources to combat racial injustice. One of its key efforts includes producing a report on the lack of regulatory protections for child farmworkers and its discriminatory impact on children of color. The initiative aims to support critical racial justice issues by providing necessary legal assistance and resources to communities facing racial discrimination.
