Services
Metrolinx operates GO Transit, UP Express, and PRESTO within the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area. GO Transit offers frequent train and bus services, accommodating over 70 million passengers annually. UP Express provides a consistent 25-minute connection between Toronto Pearson International Airport and downtown Toronto's Union Station. PRESTO simplifies fare collection across 11 different transit agencies, eliminating the need for tickets, passes, and cash.
Major Transportation Projects
Metrolinx is overseeing multiple significant transportation investments in Ontario. The Ontario Line will be a 15.6-kilometre subway line with connections to more than 40 travel options. The Hazel McCallion LRT will feature 19 stops. The Scarborough Subway Extension will extend Line 2 by 7.8 km. The Durham-Scarborough BRT will include 36 km of rapid transit service. The Kitchener Line is being upgraded for two-way, all-day service. The Dundas BRT project will create a 48-km transit corridor from Hamilton to Toronto. The Hamilton LRT will cover 14 km between McMaster University and Eastgate Square. The Finch West, Eglinton Crosstown, and Eglinton Crosstown West LRT projects add extensive light rail options across Toronto. The Yonge North Subway Extension will extend TTC's Line 1 northward.
Accessibility Initiatives
Metrolinx is committed to making its services accessible to people with disabilities. The organization has joined the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower program to support customers with invisible disabilities. Metrolinx aims for a consistent approach to transit fares through the Fare Integration program.
The Ontario Line Overview
The Ontario Line is a new 15.6-kilometre subway that will facilitate faster travel within Toronto. It will feature 15 stations connecting Exhibition Place to the Ontario Science Centre. The line promises to reduce travel times to less than 30 minutes end-to-end and will connect with more than 40 travel options. It aims to alleviate rush hour crowding by up to 22% at Bloor/Yonge Station, 16% at Eglinton Station, and 14% at Union Station. The line is also projected to result in 28,000 fewer car trips daily, saving 7.2 million litres of fuel annually.
UP Express
UP Express is a dedicated air-rail link operated by Metrolinx. It offers a reliable 25-minute connection between Toronto Pearson International Airport and downtown Toronto, making it a crucial service for travelers and commuters alike. UP Express is designed to provide consistent and efficient transit between these key locations.
