History of the Native American Community Clinic

The Native American Community Clinic (NACC) was established in 2003 to address significant health disparities within the urban Native American community of the Twin Cities. Since its inception, NACC has continually expanded its services and programs to meet the growing needs of the community it serves. The clinic operates as a FTCA deemed community health center, focusing not just on medical treatment but also on addressing the root causes of health disparities such as access to food, housing, and health insurance.

Healthcare Services Offered by NACC

NACC provides a comprehensive range of healthcare services, including Medical, Behavioral Health, Dental, and Substance Abuse programs. To ensure holistic care, services also include resource navigation, care coordination, outreach, and community-based activities through peer recovery coaches and community health workers. In addition, NACC offers spiritual care with the inclusion of Elders in Residence providing access to traditional healing.

Behavioral Health Services at NACC

NACC's Behavioral Health department offers robust services such as individual and group therapy, grief and loss support, assessments, and treatment for PTSD, depression, and anxiety. The department also provides spiritual care and substance use disorder treatment. Emphasizing comprehensive care, NACC includes services like telehealth appointments via Zoom Mobile App for those who cannot visit in person.

NACC Capital Campaign: We Look in All Directions

The Native American Community Clinic launched its Capital Campaign, “We Look in All Directions,” to fulfill its goal of operating at full capacity and providing vital services to the Twin Cities Native American community. To date, NACC has secured $7.4 million towards its aspirations. The campaign aims to not only expand the clinic but also develop housing solutions and further support essential health services including COVID-19 care, telehealth, mother and child health, children's mental health, HIV and MAT programs, chemical health programs, pharmacy services, and integrated pediatric care.

Community Engagement and Events at NACC

NACC actively engages with the community through various events such as small dinner gatherings, an annual open house, and a fall reception. These events are designed to strengthen the bond within the community while also supporting NACC’s capital campaign efforts. Participatory activities help promote health equity and wellness, aligning with NACC’s mission to enhance the health and wellness of mind, body, and spirit among Native American families.
