ORPC

ORPC specializes in generating predictable, emission-free electricity from river and tidal currents, offering innovative solutions like the RivGen and TidGen Power Systems for both remote and grid-connected communities.

RivGen Power System

The RivGen Power System generates predictable, emission-free electricity from free-flowing river and tidal currents. It reduces diesel use and connects directly into a community’s existing grid using smart grid technology. This system offers high renewable energy penetration on the grid and a revolutionary baseload solution. Designed for reliable operation in remote and rural areas, it is particularly useful where heavy lift equipment and large marine vessels are not readily available. For example, it can save 22,981 gallons of diesel annually for a representative off-grid community.

TidGen Power System

The TidGen Power System harnesses energy from tidal currents to offer predictable, renewable power for community-scale microgrids and utility-scale electricity networks. Designed for deep water sites globally, the TidGen Power System provides a low-cost energy alternative. It uses a patented cross-flow turbine generator unit constructed of advanced composites. Suitable for microgrid-driven, remote communities and grid-connected, coastal communities, it has minimal environmental impact with no observed injuries to marine life from hundreds of hours of video monitoring.

Modular Power Systems

ORPC’s power systems, including the Modular RivGen Power System, are constructed for ease of assembly, transport, installation, and retrieval. These modular designs cater to both utility-scale and distributed energy applications, adapting to lower-velocity sites. The RivGen and TidGen systems are sustainable, emission-free, and have minimal environmental impact, ensuring reliable and clean renewable energy. They can provide power to existing sites such as hydroelectric facilities, canal waterworks, hospitals, and electric vehicle charging stations.

Global Subsidiaries

ORPC operates subsidiaries in Canada, Ireland, and Chile, extending its reach and impact worldwide. These subsidiaries facilitate the deployment and operational support of ORPC's RivGen and TidGen Power Systems, ensuring the provision of clean, renewable energy to a diverse range of geographical locations. Through these global subsidiaries, ORPC continues to contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions internationally.

Alaska River Project

ORPC’s Alaska river project, in collaboration with the Village of Igiugig, set a record as the longest operating marine energy project in the Americas. This project demonstrates the practical, long-term viability of ORPC’s RivGen Power System in generating clean, renewable energy. The project highlights ORPC's commitment to providing reliable energy solutions in remote and rural areas, significantly reducing reliance on diesel and other non-renewable energy sources.
