Services
Project Lead The Way (PLTW) offers a comprehensive PreK-12 STEM curriculum that includes programs in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science. The curriculum features hands-on activities, projects, and real-world problems designed to build upon each other. PLTW also provides professional development through Core Training for teachers and various implementation options, including in-class, after-school, and summer programs. Additionally, PLTW offers funding and grant opportunities to support program implementation along with robust support for classroom setup, like software and hardware specifications.
Curriculum for Different Grade Levels
PLTW provides distinct curricular programs tailored to different educational stages. PLTW Launch is aimed at PreK through 5th grade students and is available in both English and Spanish. PLTW Gateway is targeted at middle school students in grades 6 through 8. High school students can engage with more specialized programs such as PLTW Computer Science, PLTW Engineering, and PLTW Biomedical Science. Each program includes a series of hands-on activities and projects designed to enhance learning and relate to real-world scenarios.
Teacher Training and Professional Development
Project Lead The Way offers comprehensive professional development for educators through Core Training sessions. PLTW's Training Guarantee ensures schools can receive a grant to train a new teacher if a trained teacher leaves within four years. PLTW's development opportunities include both in-person and virtual experiences, and the organization supports teachers with the necessary tools for effective classroom implementation. Additionally, PLTW hosts events and webinars to support and inspire educators and administrators.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB)
PLTW is committed to promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) within its programs. This commitment ensures that all students and teachers have inclusive and equitable learning experiences. PLTW's curriculum is designed to be accessible and relevant to a diverse student population, encouraging the participation of underrepresented groups in STEM fields. The organization also recognizes the achievements of students making a positive impact in their communities through the Community Impact Awards program.
