Rainbow Days' Mission and Programs
Rainbow Days' mission is to help children and youth in adversity build coping skills and resilience to create positive futures. The organization has developed the Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG®) Program, which teaches social-emotional learning skills, such as coping with stress, handling anger, making healthy choices, and developing positive goals. Other key programs include the Family Connection Program, which provides support groups and life enrichment services to homeless children and families, and the Community Connection Program, which offers life skills education in high-risk Dallas metroplex areas.
Annual Events Organized by Rainbow Days
Rainbow Days hosts several annual events aimed at bringing joy and support to the community. Key events include 'Saturday with Santa' for families experiencing homelessness, the Pot of Gold Luncheon, Easter Eggstravaganza, and the Back-to-School Celebration. These events offer opportunities for community engagement and provide direct benefits to children and families in need, such as new school uniforms, backpacks filled with school supplies, and festive celebrations.
Rainbow Days' Academic and Recreational Camps
Rainbow Days offers several camps designed to support children's academic and personal development. Kids' University is an academic camp conducted in partnership with a local university or college. Camp Bravo is a performing arts camp specifically for homeless children, and the Outdoor Adventure Camp focuses on skills development and team-building activities. These camps provide enriching experiences that help children build confidence, skills, and memorable experiences.
Evidence-Based Programs Recognized Nationally
The Curriculum-Based Support Group (CBSG®) Program developed by Rainbow Days is recognized by several national bodies, including the National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP), the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The program has been proven to reduce anti-social attitudes, lower rebellious behavior, increase anti-drug-use attitudes and intentions, reduce early substance use/experimentation, and enhance coping and social skills.
