Skyryse
Skyryse is an aviation company that developed Skyryse One, a helicopter powered by SkyOS, designed to simplify and enhance flight safety with advanced automation and intuitive controls.
Services
Skyryse offers advanced aviation services focusing on safer and simpler flight controls. Their technology, SkyOS™, is integrated into various aircraft, providing features like dynamic envelope protection, hover assist, and automated autorotation to ensure safety and efficiency. Additionally, they retrofit existing fleets with their cutting-edge systems.
Products
Skyryse has developed Skyryse One™, a revolutionary helicopter powered by SkyOS™. This aircraft includes several innovative features such as One Stick Control for intuitive flying, Swipe-to-Start touchscreens, and Auto-Pickup & Set-Down functionality. It also features triply-redundant safety systems akin to those found in commercial airliners and spacecraft. SkyOS serves as a full flight management system, integrating all necessary flight controls and circuit breakers into a single intuitive display.
History
Skyryse was founded with the mission of enhancing aviation safety through simpler flight controls. In 2017, the company flew its first full-scale unmanned VTOL and debuted a 4-axis control stick in a simulation. Skyryse has developed and deployed the world's highest volume, full-service air-tax service, applying the insights gained to their current technologies. Skyryse also secured $205 million, marking the largest Series B funding in aviation and aerospace history.
Technological Innovations
Skyryse is known for its numerous innovations such as SkyOS™, a full-flight management system that eliminates traditional mechanical components in favor of smart actuators. The system includes features like automated autorotation in case of power failure, dynamic envelope protection, and continuously monitored engine parameters. SkyOS provides a seamless flying experience through its integrated touchscreen commands and stable hover assistance, which keeps the aircraft in a safe flight envelope even if the pilot lets go of the controls.
Partnerships and Deployments
Skyryse has signed an agreement with Air Methods to retrofit their emergency medical services (EMS) aircraft fleet with SkyOS technology. Their technology has been deployed in aircraft servicing the FBI, law enforcement, and first responders. Additionally, Skyryse achieved 100% FAA Means of Compliance, indicating a clear path to full FAA certification. The company also announced the first low-cost IFR-certified VTOL.
