St. Jude Children's Research Hospital
St. Jude Cloud, launched in April 2018, is the largest cloud-based genomic resource for pediatric cancer, providing data and analysis tools to researchers worldwide at no cost.
St. Jude Cloud Services
St. Jude Cloud provides a variety of data and analysis resources to the global research community, with a focus on advancing cures for pediatric cancer and other pediatric catastrophic diseases. These services include the Genomics Platform for accessing and analyzing genomics data, the Pediatric Cancer Knowledge Base (PeCan) for browsing cancer variant knowledge, and the Visualization Community for creating and sharing genomic visualizations. St. Jude Cloud also offers patient-derived xenograft data and cell lines through its Model Systems app, alongside real-time clinical genomics data.
St. Jude Cloud Founding and Partners
St. Jude Cloud was launched in April 2018 with the goal of providing free access to pediatric genomic data and tools to researchers worldwide. It partners with major technology companies such as Microsoft and DNAnexus to support its operations and enhance its capabilities. This collaboration helps ensure that researchers have access to robust and secure cloud-based platforms for their genomic research needs.
St. Jude Cloud Genomics Platform
The Genomics Platform on St. Jude Cloud offers comprehensive end-to-end genomic analysis, providing access to one of the world’s largest repositories of pediatric cancer-related genomics data. This platform allows researchers to work with data from various significant projects, including the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project and the Sickle Cell Genome Project. The Genomics Platform hosts over 1.25 petabytes of data, including more than 12,104 whole genomes, 7,697 whole exomes, and 2,202 transcriptomes.
Pediatric Cancer Knowledge Base (PeCan)
The Pediatric Cancer Knowledge Base (PeCan) is a key component of St. Jude Cloud, designed specifically for browsing and analyzing variant knowledge related to pediatric cancers. PeCan enables researchers to access detailed information about cancer variants, facilitating improved understanding and advancing potential treatments and cures. This knowledge base is part of the suite of tools provided by St. Jude Cloud to support pediatric cancer research globally.
St. Jude Cloud Data Access and Usage
St. Jude Cloud offers extensive genomic, clinical, and patient-reported data at no cost to researchers worldwide to promote the advancement of scientific knowledge and medical breakthroughs. With user-friendly interfaces and tools such as ProteinPaint, GenomePaint, and Disco in its Visualization Community, the platform attracts about 10,000 unique users per month. Researchers can access data from studies like the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project, Sickle Cell Genome Project, and St. Jude LIFE, which provides gene expression data from over 2,000 pediatric tumor samples.
