Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) provides essential public safety services on behalf of the government of Ontario. TSSA regulates numerous devices and industries, including amusement devices, boilers and pressure vessels, elevating devices, fuels, operating engineers, and ski lifts. Its services include certification and training programs designed to ensure industry professionals meet safety and compliance standards. By offering compliance support and enforcement measures such as education, legally enforceable orders, and prosecution of offenses, TSSA administers technical safety regulations and maintains safety oversight.

Organizational Structure

TSSA operates as a not-for-profit, self-funded organization. It employs approximately 400 individuals, with 70% working in operations to ensure safety regulations are properly implemented and followed. The organization is governed by a 13-member Board of Directors, which provides strategic direction and ensures accountability to the Government of Ontario and its diverse stakeholders. TSSA's governance structure ensures that its safety programs and initiatives align with the public interest and regulatory requirements.
