The Center provides comprehensive services and support for the LGBTQIA+ community, including health services, community engagement, and educational programs.

Services

The Center provides a wide range of services including HIV services, community engagement, inclusive programming, senior services, youth and family services, volunteer opportunities, recovery support groups, and community groups. Notable programs include QVolution for LGBTQIA+ youth, gender-affirming services, and recovery support groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Crystal Meth Anonymous. A comprehensive sex education program for youth ages 13 to 18 is also offered, covering topics like contraception, consent, and HIV/STI prevention.

Health Services

The Arlene Cooper Community Health Center, operated by The Center, offers fast, free, and comprehensive testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs). Additionally, the Center distributes harm reduction tools through a vending machine, including syringe, hormone, first aid, hygiene, and safe sex kits as well as Naloxone and Narcan packs. A full-service pharmacy is available onsite, serving clinic clients and individuals from the surrounding community.

Community Engagement and Events

The Center hosts a variety of community events and programs, including youth prom, youth Thanksgiving, and Pride for Kids. They also provide room rentals for community events, seminars, support groups, and private functions at the Robert L. Forbuss Building. The organization offers a safe space for other LGBTQIA+ community organizations to gather, with support groups such as Guy Talk, Las Vegas Men’s Chorus, and the L Group. Community engagement is further supported by a lending library and a CyberCenter with free computer and internet access.

Youth Programs

The QVolution program is designed to meet the mental, social, and developmental needs of LGBTQIA+ and ally youth. The Center also offers Pivot, a 6-week program for LGBTQIA+ youth and their caregivers to provide support and answer questions about LGBTQIA+ identities. Thrive connects LGBTQIA+ youth to licensed and affirming therapists, providing financial assistance for mental health services.

Support Services and Resources

The Center provides various support services and resources, including a 24-hour crisis hotline, cultural competency training for companies and organizations on topics such as HIV and gender identity, and meal distribution through the Delivering With Dignity program with over 42,000 meals distributed. They also distribute over 75,000 condoms and lubricants annually and have completed over 10,000 HIV and STD/STI tests. Support is diversified through offering recovery support groups and making gender-affirming services readily accessible.
