The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda (AHA) manages over 840 affordable rental homes and partners with over 400 private landlords to provide safe, affordable housing. AHA is actively developing additional housing, including the North Housing Master Plan, which aims to create 586 homes for low-income residents.

Affordable Housing Communities

AHA manages an extensive portfolio of affordable housing communities. These include Alameda Point Collaborative, Anne B. Diament Plaza, Bay37 at Pulte Homes, Bessie Coleman Court, Breakers at Bayport, China Clipper, Corsair Flats, Eagle Village, Esperanza Apartments, Everett Commons, Independence Plaza, Jack Capon Villas, Lincoln Willow, Littlejohn Commons, Operation Dignity, Parrot Gardens, Parrot Village, Playa Del Alameda, Rica Vista, Rosefield Village, Scattered Sites, Sherman House, Shinsei Gardens, Stanford House, Stargell Commons, The Park Alameda, and The Starling. These properties serve a diverse group of residents, including seniors, disabled adults, and low- to moderate-income families.

North Housing Master Plan

The North Housing Master Plan is a significant multi-year initiative by AHA to develop 586 homes for low-income residents in Alameda. The first phase will introduce 109 new affordable homes targeted at homeless and formerly homeless individuals, military veterans, and seniors (ages 62+). Construction of the first two buildings, The Estuary I and Linnet Corner, is slated for completion in late 2025.

Special Property Features

AHA operates several properties with unique features designed to enhance residents' quality of life. The Park Alameda offers 62 affordable studios for disabled adults, featuring green design elements and on-site property management. Corsair Flats, part of the Alameda Point Site master plan, provides senior housing with amenities such as a community room, computer lab, on-site laundry facilities, bike storage, community gardens, and a courtyard with seating areas. Rica Vista Apartments will remain affordable for moderate-income families and individuals for fifty-five years due to a long-term agreement between AHA and the property owner.

Future Developments

AHA continues to expand its affordable housing options through future communities like North Housing and The Poplar. North Housing will focus on providing homes for formerly homeless households, while The Poplar is a planned development in the Fernside neighborhood.
