Karanvir Kukreja is the Head of Companion Animal Campaigns Southeast Asia at FOUR PAWS since 2022. Based in Bangkok, Thailand, he leads the development and implementation of public mobilisation and political engagement strategies targeting the dog and cat meat trade in the region. He also serves as the local media contact, handles press inquiries, and oversees research related to companion animal welfare topics.
Previous Experience at FOUR PAWS
Karanvir Kukreja has held multiple roles at FOUR PAWS. From 2021 to 2022, he was the Head of Public Campaigns Southeast Asia – Companion Animals, focusing on ending the dog and cat meat trade. Prior to this, he served as Project Manager from 2019 to 2021, directing projects aimed at the same cause. In both roles, he managed budgets, supplier relationships, and participated in regional animal welfare coalitions.
Experience at World Animal Protection
From 2016 to 2019, Karanvir Kukreja worked at World Animal Protection as the Wildlife Campaign Manager for Bears in the Bangkok Metropolitan Area, Thailand. Before that, he was the Asia-Pacific Wildlife Campaign Coordinator in 2016. His roles involved overseeing wildlife campaigns, particularly focusing on bears, and contributing to regional conservation efforts.
Educational Background
Karanvir Kukreja holds a Master's Degree in Veterinary Public Health Management from the University of Sydney, completed between 2015 and 2020. He also earned a Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Science from the same institution, studying from 2003 to 2008. Additionally, he completed his IB Diploma at Ruamrudee International School, attending from 1992 to 2001.
Early Career and Veterinary Experience
Karanvir Kukreja began his career as a server at Hard Rock Cafe Sydney from 2003 to 2006. Transitioning into the veterinary field, he worked as a Veterinarian at Belmont Veterinary Hospital in 2009, and as an Associate Veterinarian at Woodville Pet Doctor in 2010. From 2010 to 2012, he served as a Small Animal and Emergency Medicine Intern/Emergency Veterinarian at The Animal Referral Hospital in Homebush, NSW.
