Services
YWCA Princeton provides a wide array of services dedicated to supporting marginalized individuals and families, with a special focus on women and girls of color. These include direct services, empowerment programming, and advocacy. Their YW Strive program offers digital and workforce skills training for high-paying careers, and the Breast Cancer Resource Center provides support at any stage of breast cancer diagnosis. Additionally, YWCA Princeton's childcare and early childhood education programs cater to children from eight weeks to six years old through their Burke Foundation Early Childhood Center.
Programs
YWCA Princeton offers a variety of programs to empower and educate. The YW Strive program is free and includes digital skills instruction and job preparation services. Their ESL program is known for low teacher-student ratios and immersive learning opportunities. The Newcomers & Friends program has welcomed community members for over 60 years. YWCA Princeton also hosts the 'Y Would I...' series featuring podcasts, speakers, and documentaries to align with their mission. Summer enrichment programs, such as the Robotics Summer Enrichment Program and 'EXPRESS YOURSELF Through Art, Music, and Dance,' are available for children aged 2.5 – 8 years old.
Advocacy Work
YWCA Princeton is heavily involved in advocacy efforts focused on a range of social issues. Their work addresses maternal wellness, accessible childcare, equitable healthcare, food insecurity, reproductive rights, and LGBTQ+ rights. The organization established the Stand Against Racism campaign in 2007, which has grown to have a national presence. Their Advocacy Library features over 100 books available for the public, aiding in the promotion of peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all.
Events
YWCA Princeton hosts multiple events throughout the year to support its various programs. Notable events include Handbag Bingo and the Firecracker 5K. These events help fund initiatives like the Pearl Bates Scholarship Fund, which assists economically disadvantaged women and girls. The organization's annual membership meeting provides updates on their strategic plan and celebrates the milestones of volunteers and staff.
